Our read on KWT

ETF.net Research

FOne ticker, one country. KWT tracks an index of Kuwaiti stocks, roughly 40 names deep, and has been listed since 2020. A specialist tool for a small Gulf market, priced like a specialist at 0.75% a year.

Stated mandate

The fund seeks to track an index composed of equities with exposure to Kuwait, providing a single-country investment mandate.

Why people hold it

  1. 01A single-ticker route into Kuwait's listed market: an index mandate covering roughly 40 Kuwaiti companies, not a manager's hand-picked basket.
  2. 02Concentration is the point. Broad emerging-market funds spread across dozens of countries; this one keeps the exposure to Kuwaiti equities only.
  3. 03Standard iShares index wrapper, running since 2020, with daily-disclosed holdings rather than a black box.

Worth knowing

  1. 01At 0.75% a year, it costs more than the typical single-country emerging-market fund. Narrow access carries a narrow-market price.
  2. 02It trades thinly and stays small, so spreads and order size matter more here than in the mainstream country funds.
  3. 03Within its single-country emerging-market peer group it sits in the bottom quartile, with funds like EWW and EPOL ahead on cost and ease of trading.
