# Goldman files a stock-picking international ETF on the same benchmark as its data-driven fund

The Nov. 2 prospectus leaves the fee, ticker and exchange blank, and the shares are not for sale yet.

By ETF.net Research. Published Nov 3, 2026.

Goldman Sachs ETF Trust filed Monday, Nov. 2, to register the Goldman Sachs International Equity ETF, a stock-picking fund Goldman would measure against the MSCI EAFE Index. That index tracks large and midsize companies in developed markets other than the United States and Canada.

Goldman already uses that benchmark for the Goldman Sachs Data Enhanced International Equity ETF GIEQ. Goldman [said on Sept. 14](https://am.gs.com/en-us/advisors/news/press-release/2026/Goldman-Sachs-Asset-Management-Expands-Data-Enhanced-ETF-Range-with-Emerging-Markets-and-International-Equity-ETFs) that GIEQ uses a data-driven approach and is managed by its Quantitative Investment Strategies team. The fund's [May 15 prospectus](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1479026/000119312526226152/d40249d485bpos.htm) says Goldman Sachs Asset Management uses a quantitative style of management, together with a qualitative overlay, and selects stocks with fundamental research and quantitative techniques.

[Goldman reported](https://am.gs.com/en-us/institutions/funds/detail/PV110311/38149W382/goldman-sachs-data-enhanced-international-equity-etf) an inception date of May 19, a Nasdaq listing, $50.9 million of assets as of Oct. 23, and an expense ratio of **0.30%**.

The [preliminary prospectus](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1479026/000119312526443610/d138384d485apos.htm) for the new fund, dated Nov. 2, is marked subject to completion. The ticker and the exchange are blank.

Under the timing Goldman elected, the amendment would become effective on Jan. 16, 2027, 75 days after the filing. The document sets no trading date, and the shares cannot be sold until the registration statement is effective.

## How the new fund would pick stocks

The filing would put the Fundamental Equity team on that benchmark. The fund would seek long-term capital appreciation, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management would run it as an active fund, not as a copy of an index.

Under normal circumstances it would invest at least 80% of its net assets in stocks of companies outside the United States.

The prospectus says the investments would be selected to identify what the adviser believes are "well-positioned, cash-generating businesses run by shareholder-oriented management teams." The process looks for companies the team believes trade at a substantial discount to intrinsic value.

The team may consider environmental, social and governance factors alongside traditional fundamentals. No one factor decides a stock.

The fund would be non-diversified, so it may put a larger share of its assets in fewer companies than a diversified fund.

It intends to hold investments economically tied to at least three countries other than the United States, and it may invest in emerging markets.

The fund expects a substantial portion of the assets in the developed countries of Western Europe and in Australia, Japan and New Zealand. A stake in one developed country may exceed 25% of the portfolio.

Alexis Deladerrière, head of international developed-markets equity on the Fundamental Equity team, and Abhishek Periwal, a portfolio manager on that team, are named to run it. Both already manage the firm's International Equity ESG and International Equity Income strategies.

The filing also names Raj Garigipati, global head of the ETF portfolio management team. The May 15 prospectus for GIEQ names him as a portfolio manager of that fund. The new fund's start date is blank.

## The fee line is empty

Every line in the annual fee table is empty. The trust's board has approved a unitary management fee structure, under which the adviser would pay substantially all of the fund's expenses. The rate is not filled in.

GIEQ has an expense ratio of 0.30%. J.P. Morgan's JPMorgan International Research Enhanced Equity ETF JIRE uses the MSCI EAFE Index as its benchmark. [It reported](https://am.jpmorgan.com/content/dam/jpm-am-aem/americas/us/en/literature/fact-sheet/etfs/FS-JIRE.PDF) $10.91 billion of net assets as of Sept. 30, and a net expense ratio of 0.24% against a gross ratio of 0.29%, under a waiver that runs through Feb. 28, 2027.
