# Nuveen Impact Bond ETF defines impact as inclusion, changeable without a vote

Nushares ETF Trust filed a 485BPOS on September 4, 2026, putting Nuveen Impact Bond ETF NUIB effective September 14 at a 0.37% management fee.

By ETF.net Research. Published Sep 7, 2026.

Nuveen Impact Bond ETF NUIB would invest at least **80%** of its assets, net assets plus borrowings for investment purposes, in impact bonds: fixed-income securities that meet Nuveen’s proprietary Impact framework. Nuveen Asset Management, the sub-adviser, “does not seek to exclude securities based on negative environmental or social characteristics.” The framework is a non-fundamental policy and may be changed without a shareholder vote.

Nushares ETF Trust lodged Post-Effective Amendment No. 124 on Friday, September 4, a Rule 485(b) filing that sets **Monday, September 14** as the effective date rather than taking effect immediately. Shares of NUIB are approved for listing on the Nasdaq Stock Market, subject to notice of issuance. An August 12 485APOS had left the ticker and listing exchange blank. The fund has not commenced operations and has no full-year performance.

## Fees and the portfolio

Management fees are **0.37%** of average daily net assets, with other expenses estimated at 0.00% for the current fiscal year and 12b-1 fees at 0.00%. Total annual fund operating expenses are 0.37%. There is no stated fee waiver or expense cap. That is 0.06 percentage points above the **0.31%** charged by Nuveen Core Plus Bond ETF NCPB, the issuer’s existing actively managed core-plus bond ETF.

Nuveen Fund Advisors, LLC is the adviser; Nuveen Asset Management, LLC, its affiliate, is the sub-adviser. A restated Schedule A to the sub-advisory agreement, amended as of September 3, adds the series beside the trust’s other Nuveen funds. The named portfolio managers are Stephen Liberatore, CFA, a senior managing director, and Jessica Zarzycki, CFA, a managing director, both listed as of September 2026.

The investment objective is “to seek total return, primarily through current income, while giving special consideration to securities that provide a direct and measurable impact to environmental and/or social outcomes.” The fund will invest primarily in investment-grade U.S. government, corporate, taxable municipal, and mortgage- or asset-backed bonds, and may hold high-yield securities and bonds of any duration. Its stated benchmark is the Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Bond Index, whose duration was 5.81 years as of June 30, 2026, an intermediate profile in line with a core bond portfolio. Within impact holdings, the fund points to affordable housing, community and economic development, renewable energy and climate change, and natural resources.

If Nuveen rewrites the Impact framework, it can do so without a shareholder vote. The fund still lacks a commencement date and a listing notice.
