Editorial standards
ETF Net Media, LLC publishes etf.net. These are the standards we hold every article to, and what we do when we get one wrong.
Our commitments
- Accuracy. Editors review articles, and we take responsibility for what we publish.
- Sources you can check. Fund pages link to the fund’s SEC filings where available.
- No pay for coverage. No fund and no Issuer pays for an article or a Grade.
- Corrections. Tell us about an error at info@etf.net. We correct the article, or retract it when a correction is not enough.
- Not advice. Our Grades and articles are research and opinion, not investment advice.
What we publish
Our articles cover US-listed ETFs. They run in five sections and two daily series:
- Opening Bell and Closing Bell. The daily series: the market before the open and after the close.
- Markets. What the market did, and which funds moved with it.
- Economy. Data releases and the funds that price them.
- Fund Radar. Launches, filings, fee cuts and closures.
- Analysis. Research on markets and funds.
- Buyer’s guides. How the ETFs in one Category compare.
An article links to the fund pages of the ETFs it covers.
Grades are not articles, and nothing in an article changes one.
How we work
Research comes first. We may use automated tools to help with research and drafting. Editors review articles. The byline is ETF.net Research, with the name of the editor who reviewed the piece.
Sources
Fund facts such as fees and assets come from a licensed market-data provider, and so does the daily market data. Where a fund’s SEC filings are available, its fund page links to them, so you can read the fund’s own documents.
Grades and articles are separate
A Grade follows published rules: six pillars with fixed weights, measured inside the fund’s Category and computed every day. No article moves a Grade, and no person does.
When an article shows a fund’s Grade, it shows the Grade as of today, not the one from the day the article was written. The rules are on How we grade.
No pay for coverage
No fund and no Issuer pays for an article, a Grade or a place on etf.net. A fund cannot pay to be graded, and no payment improves a Grade or buys a place in a Category. etf.net carries no advertising.
Corrections
If you find an error, email info@etf.net. Name the article and the error.
Once we confirm an error, we correct the article and update its modified date. If the article cannot stand, we retract it. An editor decides each retraction. A retracted article leaves the News feed, but its address stays and says that the article was retracted and when.
Not investment advice
Our Grades and articles are research and opinion. They are not investment advice. We do not tell you to buy or sell a fund, and there is more on this in our Terms.
