Our read on BIGY

ETF.net Research

CYieldMax made its name on single-stock option income. BIGY is the calmer cousin: it owns 50 of the largest US companies outright, sells options against them, and aims at a stated 12% annual payout delivered monthly.

Stated mandate

The actively managed ETF seeks current income through a targeted 12% annual cash-distribution level and secondary capital appreciation from a portfolio of 50 of the largest U.S. companies. It uses options on those equity holdings to generate premiums while retaining direct equity exposure.

Why people hold it

  1. 01Real shares underneath. The fund holds direct equity in 50 of the biggest US companies and writes options on those positions, so stock exposure sits alongside the premium income.yieldmaxetfs.com
  2. 02The payout is a declared target, not a leftover: 12% a year, paid monthly, rather than a distribution that lurches around with whatever option premiums happen to be that month.yieldmaxetfs.com
  3. 03A diversified large-cap base, not a single-name bet, is why it lands in the upper half of a crowded active option-income field on portfolio quality and tradability.

Worth knowing

  1. 01The fee is 1.09% a year, above the typical active option-income fund and well above cheaper peers such as PAPI (0.29%) and DIVO (0.56%).
  2. 02YieldMax discloses that distributions can include return of capital, so part of a monthly payment may be your own investment coming back rather than income the portfolio earned.yieldmaxetfs.com
  3. 03Launched in November 2024, so the track record is short, and it trades lighter than the category's largest funds. Writing calls also gives up part of the upside in those 50 stocks.
