Our read on BITQ
DThe crypto purist's stock basket. BITQ tracks a Bitwise-built index of about 30 companies, with most of the weight reserved for firms that earn the bulk of their revenue from crypto itself, not tech giants running a blockchain side project.
The Fund seeks to track the total return of the Bitwise Crypto Innovators 30 Index before fees and expenses. The Index targets companies substantially connected to the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Why people hold it
- Index rules reserve at least 85% of weight for pure-plays: companies with over 75% of revenue from crypto or 75% of net assets in crypto. Diversified megacaps get the leftovers.bitwiseinvestments.com
- Built by a crypto-native shop. Bitwise designed the 30-stock index with Moorgate Benchmarks, and it rebalances quarterly as the industry's leaders shuffle.bitwiseinvestments.com
- Trading since 2021, so it has lived through a full crypto drawdown and recovery in public view.
- A plain 1940 Act ETF you buy in a brokerage account. No wallets, no keys, no exchange logins.bitqetf.com
Worth knowing
- The 0.85% fee sits above the category's middle. Global X's BKCH runs 0.50% and Amplify's BLOK 0.70% for broader blockchain baskets.
- About 30 stocks in one industry, weighted toward exchanges and miners, so a single company's news can move the whole fund.
- This owns crypto-linked company stock, not coins, so its path can look different from the assets those firms trade and mine.static.bitwiseinvestments.com
