Our read on BSCY

ETF.net Research

BThe long rung on Invesco's bond ladder. BSCY tracks an index of investment-grade corporate bonds that all mature in 2034, giving a fund a bond's dated finish line, plus roughly 300 issues and monthly payouts.

Stated mandate

The Fund seeks to track the performance of the Invesco BulletShares USD Corporate Bond 2034 Index before fees and expenses. It generally invests at least 80% of assets in securities included in that index.

Why people hold it

  1. 01Every holding shares a 2034 maturity, so the portfolio winds toward one dated endpoint instead of rolling over forever like a standard bond fund.
  2. 020.10% a year, in line with the typical target-maturity bond ETF, for about 300 corporate issues from US, Canadian, Japanese and Western European borrowers.
  3. 03Pays monthly, and Invesco runs dated rungs beside it (BSCT, BSCU), so a year-by-year ladder can be built off one shelf.
  4. 04One of the stronger implementations in a crowded target-maturity field, with no structural red flags in its filings.

Worth knowing

  1. 01Launched in 2024, so the track record is thin and there is limited history behind its risk profile.
  2. 02A 2034 target is the far end of the ladder: prices can move more with rates than shorter rungs such as BSCT before the maturity year arrives.
  3. 03This is corporate credit, not government paper, so issuer risk is part of the package; Treasury-based rungs like IBTJ take a different route.
