Our read on OAIM
DOneAscent runs its own values screen across a non-US universe that includes emerging markets, benchmarked to the MSCI ACWI ex USA Index. A boutique build in a corner of the market dominated by cheap developed-market index trackers.
The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in diversified non-U.S. equity securities, potentially including emerging-market companies, subject to the Adviser’s values-based screening process.
Why people hold it
- Reaches into emerging markets, not just developed ones. Several of the biggest screened rivals (ESGD, DMXF, PABD) track EAFE- or World-ex-USA-style developed-market indexes.
- The values screen is the product, applied by the adviser across the portfolio rather than licensed from an off-the-shelf third-party ESG index.
- Measures itself against MSCI ACWI ex USA, a mainstream yardstick, so the effect of the screening is visible against plain international equity.
- Standard 1940 Act fund holding diversified non-US stocks. No derivatives wrapper, no leverage, no commodity-pool paperwork at tax time.
Worth knowing
- 0.89% a year is boutique pricing: the index-based names in the same group run far cheaper (VSGX 0.10%, ESGD 0.20%, DMXF 0.12%).
- Thinly traded, so bid-ask spreads and order size matter more here than with the giants in its peer group.
- Distributions land annually or semiannually, not on a monthly rhythm.
