Our read on PTEU
DA Eurozone stock fund with an exit ramp built in. Three trend indicators decide whether it holds Eurozone equities, a blended equity and T-bill position, or 3-month U.S. Treasury bills. Buy-and-hold this is not.
The Fund seeks to track the total return of the Pacer Trendpilot European Index before fees and expenses. Its rules-based trend-following process uses three indicators to rotate among Eurozone equities, a mixed equity/T-bill position, and 3-month U.S. Treasury bills.
Why people hold it
- The exit is written into the rules: three trend indicators, not a manager's mood, decide when Eurozone stocks give way to 3-month U.S. Treasury bills.paceretfs.com
- Under the trend switch sits a broad Eurozone base of roughly 300 stocks, so the equity sleeve is index exposure rather than a stock-picking bet.
- Live since 2015, so the rulebook has run through real European markets and not just a backtest.
Worth knowing
- At 0.65% a year it sits above the median for its index-tracking group (0.45%). The trend machinery is what the premium buys.
- Small and thinly traded next to plain-vanilla giants like VT, which can mean wider bid/ask spreads and more care needed on entry and exit.
- Trend rules act after the move: a sharp drop can shift it toward T-bills and a fast rebound can find it still there. Whipsaw is the cost of the switch.
