Our read on TPIF
BTimothy Plan's international sleeve runs a biblically responsible screen first, then weights whatever survives by volatility instead of size. Conviction is the product here, and the fee reflects it.
The Fund aims to match, before fees and expenses, the performance of the Victory International Volatility Weighted BRI Index. It normally invests at least 80% of net assets directly or indirectly in securities included in that index.
Why people hold it
- The Biblically Responsible Investing screen is written into the mandate, not bolted on for marketing: it filters the universe before any weighting happens.
- The benchmark is volatility weighted, so position sizes key off price swings rather than sheer company size, unlike the cap-weighted default abroad.
- Simple plumbing: at least 80% of net assets in the index's securities, aiming to match it before fees, with monthly distributions.
Worth knowing
- At 0.62% it costs well above the 0.35% median for its international peer group, and broad trackers like VXUS charge a fraction of that.
- Thinly traded, so spreads can run wider than on the giant international index funds.
- The faith screen removes whole slices of the market, so the basket can look quite different from a plain total-international index.
