Our read on TSL
CMost of the Tesla leverage shelf reaches for 2x. TSL stays in low gear: 1.25 times Tesla's daily move, reset every day. Same single-stock ride, smaller amplifier.
The Fund seeks daily leveraged investment results equal to 1.25 times the daily percentage change of Tesla Inc. common stock.
Why people hold it
- The low-gear choice in a 2x crowd: 1.25x Tesla's daily percentage move, versus the 2x builds from TSLL, TSLR and TSLT. Less amplification in both directions.
- It hits the number it advertises. Day to day, the fund has tracked its stated 1.25x target closely, which is the whole job of a daily-reset product.
- Running since 2022 and actively traded, so it has a multi-year record and a working market for getting in and out.
- Clean, single-purpose plumbing: a 1940 Act fund whose only mandate is Tesla common stock exposure, no options overlay or thematic basket bolted on.
Worth knowing
- You pay up for the lower gear. The 1.39% expense ratio sits above the typical fund in this group, and GraniteShares' own TSLR charges 1.05% for twice the multiple.
- The leverage resets daily. Hold past one session and compounding takes over, so results can drift from 1.25x Tesla's move over that stretch, most of all in choppy markets.
- One stock, no cushion, and no diversification to soften a bad Tesla headline. It's also a smaller fund than the 2x heavyweights and isn't built to pay income.

TSL Risk
This fund targets a multiple of the daily move of its index and resets daily. Hold it longer than one reset and compounding makes the return diverge from that target. In choppy markets it can lose value even when the index ends flat.
- 67.0%
How it’s calculated: standard deviation
The sample standard deviation of monthly total returns, multiplied by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Total returns include reinvested distributions.
- 0.32
How it’s calculated: Sharpe ratio
Subtract each month’s Treasury-bill return from the fund’s monthly total return.
Divide the average of those excess returns by their sample standard deviation, then multiply by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Each month uses the Treasury yield quoted at the end of the previous month.
- −74.4%
How it’s calculated: maximum drawdown
The largest percentage decline from an earlier peak, using total returns with reinvested distributions.
Uses up to five years through the last close, with at least 12 months required.
- 2.06
How it’s calculated: beta
The beta figure is supplied by FMP. The comparison index depends on the fund’s broad asset class.
