DABSBDoubleLine Asset-Backed Securities ETF

PRABCState Street IG Public & Private ABS ETF

In short

DABS Asset-backed bonds, the debt built on pools of consumer and business loans, are a hand-picked corner of fixed income. DABS is DoubleLine's active run at it: roughly 100 positions, monthly payouts, chasing total return with income alongside.

PRAB An active bond fund that shops both sides of the securitized market: publicly traded asset-backed bonds plus privately negotiated deals, inside a daily-traded ETF. State Street's push to put private credit in a 1940 Act wrapper.

Stated mandate

DABS The Fund seeks long-term total return while also striving to generate current income.

PRAB The fund is actively managed and primarily invests in investment-grade asset-backed securities, including public and private ABS, collateralized loan obligations, and residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities. It seeks to maximize risk-adjusted returns while providing current income.

Why people hold it

  • DABS The mandate is plainly stated: long-term total return while also striving to generate current income, expressed through roughly 100 securitized positions rather than a broad index sweep.doubleline.com
  • At 0.40%, it prices right at the median for its bond peer group and level with SECU, one of the stronger-standing securitized funds in that group.
  • Distributions land monthly, matching the rhythm of the loan pools underneath.
  • The bond-by-bond lineup is the strongest part of the package, and the fund sits in the upper half of its bond cohort overall.
  • PRAB Casts a wide net across securitized credit: public and private ABS, CLOs, and residential and commercial mortgage bonds, all investment grade.ssga.com
  • Actively managed, not index-tracking. The mandate is risk-adjusted return plus current income, so the team can shift between collateral types.
  • Costs 0.39% a year, a hair under the bond peer median and under active securitized rival SECU at 0.40%.
  • Pays income quarterly from a compact book, on the order of 70 positions.

Worth knowing

  • DABS Launched in 2025, so the history is thin. There is little track record showing how the portfolio behaves through a full credit cycle.
  • Thinly traded on a modest asset base, so the gap between the price you get and the portfolio's value can be wider than at a giant bond fund.
  • No index sits behind it. Results ride on the manager's security selection, and the 0.40% fee is the price of that judgment.doubleline.com
  • PRAB The private sleeve is the point and the trade-off: privately placed deals change hands less freely than public bonds and lean more on manager valuation.ssga.com
  • A 2026 launch, so there is no long record showing how the strategy handles a credit squeeze.
  • Still building an audience. Lighter volume in a fund this young tends to show up as wider bid/ask spreads.

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
