Our read on each fund
DIVBA
QDIVB
In short
DIVB Most dividend funds only count the check that hits your account. DIVB's index also counts buybacks, treating a shrinking share count as cash returned to owners, and it charges five basis points to do it.
QDIV Most dividend funds chase yield and hope quality follows. QDIV demands both: a stock must rank in the S&P 500's top 200 on dividend yield and top 200 on quality to get in. Roughly 50 names, equal weighted, paid monthly.
Stated mandate
DIVB The fund seeks to track an index of U.S. companies selected for a history of dividend payments and/or share buybacks, providing equity exposure oriented toward income and long-term growth.
QDIV The fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the S&P 500 Quality High Dividend Index.

Worth knowing
DIVB vs QDIV Holdings
How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
