DIVBAiShares Core Dividend ETF

VSDABVictoryShares Dividend Accelerator ETF

In short

DIVB Most dividend funds only count the check that hits your account. DIVB's index also counts buybacks, treating a shrinking share count as cash returned to owners, and it charges five basis points to do it.

VSDA Most dividend growth funds reward the past. VSDA tracks a Nasdaq index that runs a statistical model on large and mid cap payers to rank who is likeliest to raise dividends next year, aiming at payout growth over fat yield.

Stated mandate

DIVB The fund seeks to track an index of U.S. companies selected for a history of dividend payments and/or share buybacks, providing equity exposure oriented toward income and long-term growth.

VSDA The Fund seeks to track the Nasdaq Victory Dividend Accelerator Index before fees and expenses.

Why people hold it

  • DIVB Five basis points a year, one of the lowest fees in the dividend-screen aisle, where the typical fund charges many times more.
  • The Morningstar US Dividend and Buyback Index counts repurchases alongside payouts, so a company buying back stock qualifies even with a modest yield. Roughly 400 US names.
  • Sits in the top tier of a large dividend-screen peer group and stays tight to its stated mandate: US dividend payers and buyback machines, nothing exotic.
  • A billion-dollar-plus member of the iShares Core lineup, running since 2017 and distributing quarterly.
  • VSDA The index runs a logit model over 14 variables to rank which dividend payers are likeliest to raise next year, then holds 75 of them. Streak counting is only part of it.nasdaqomx.comnasdaqomx.com 2
  • Weights lean on dividend yield and 10-year net income stability instead of market cap, REITs are screened out, and the roster refreshes at quarterly rebalances.nasdaqomx.com
  • Pays monthly, and it has tracked its index live since its 2017 launch, not on backtested paper.
  • Narrow mandate: at least 80% of assets in index securities, with no manager discretion over which stocks make the cut.sec.gov

Worth knowing

  • DIVB Buybacks return value through share count, not cash in your pocket, so the income profile can sit lighter than pure high-yield screens like SPYD.
  • Moderately traded rather than a volume heavyweight like SCHD or VIG, so limit orders earn their keep, especially in size.
  • All-equity, all-US. Dividends and buybacks soften nothing when the American stock market sells off.
  • VSDA The 0.40% fee sits near the middle of the dividend-screen crowd, but index giants like VIG (0.04%) and SCHD (0.06%) charge a fraction of it.
  • Assets are modest and trading is thin next to the category's household names, so bid-ask spreads tend to run wider.
  • Forecasts are odds, not promises. A flagged raiser can freeze its payout, and the index waits for the next quarterly rebalance to respond.nasdaqomx.com

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
