DUSACDavis Select U.S. Equity ETF

SEIVASEI QiM U.S. Large Cap Value Active ETF

In short

DUSA A stock picker's fund in an aisle full of indexes: Davis runs a concentrated book of US large companies bought below its own estimate of what they're worth, and has done it in ETF form since 2017.

SEIV Active quant value stock-picking at an index-fund price. SEIV screens U.S. large caps for cheap valuations plus quality, momentum and low volatility, then runs a concentrated book of roughly 80 names for 0.15% a year.

Stated mandate

DUSA The Fund seeks long-term capital growth and capital preservation. It is actively managed and invests principally in U.S. equity securities, generally favoring large companies while using fundamental research to identify businesses trading below estimated intrinsic value.

SEIV The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation through primarily U.S. common stocks priced below fundamental valuation measures, using a quantitative, active stock-selection approach.

Why people hold it

  • DUSA Genuinely active, not index-shadowing: roughly two dozen US large companies chosen by fundamental research for trading below Davis's estimate of intrinsic value.
  • The mandate names capital preservation next to long-term growth, with at least 80% of net assets normally in US company securities.
  • Trading since January 2017 and running a few hundred million dollars, it is a seasoned active ETF rather than a fresh launch.
  • Taken as a whole, it lands in the upper half of the US value cohort we track.
  • SEIV 0.15% a year for genuine active selection, against a 0.55% median in its U.S. value peer group. It matches the cheapest large-value quant funds rather than charging active prices.
  • Value is not the only screen. The model also weighs quality, momentum and low volatility, which is how a cheap-stock strategy tries to avoid the cheap-for-a-reason trap.
  • Other funds measured against the S&P 500 in this cohort charge far more (LSVD 0.40%, GSPY 0.50%, VNSE 1.34%). SEIV runs its version at 0.15%.
  • Sits among the strongest implementations in a crowded U.S. value field, and trades with enough regular activity to be workable for ordinary retail order sizes.

Worth knowing

  • DUSA 0.59% a year is above the typical fund in its value cohort and several times what index-built rivals charge, such as WTV at 0.12% and AVLV at 0.15%.
  • It trades thinly, so spreads can widen on larger orders or choppy days.
  • With about two dozen names, single stocks move the fund, and results can part ways with broad value benchmarks for long stretches.
  • SEIV About 80 stocks measured against a 500-name benchmark. That concentration means stretches where it looks nothing like the S&P 500, in either direction.
  • Launched in 2022, so the live record is short, and the asset base is mid-sized rather than among the giants of the value aisle.
  • You get the factor recipe, not the trade-by-trade logic: selection sits inside a quantitative model. Distributions land quarterly, not monthly.

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
