FLINAFranklin FTSE India ETF

INDHBWisdomTree India Hedged Equity Fund

In short

FLIN Franklin's India fund runs the whole large- and mid-cap market at 0.19% a year, a fraction of what most India ETFs charge. Same country, same index-tracking job, cheaper meter running.

INDH Most India funds hand you two bets: Indian companies and the rupee. INDH keeps the stocks and hedges the currency, so the exchange rate stops riding shotgun on your returns.

Stated mandate

FLIN The fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the performance of the FTSE India RIC Capped Index.

INDH The fund seeks exposure to India's equity market while hedging movements between the U.S. dollar and Indian rupee.

Why people hold it

  • FLIN Charges 0.19% a year, well under the typical India ETF fee and under every other top-scoring fund in the group, including INDA, INDY and SMIN.
  • Tracks the FTSE India RIC Capped Index with very little slippage, one of the tightest index-following records among India funds.
  • Roughly 240 Indian stocks in one ticker, plus a billion-dollar-plus asset base and steady daily trading, so spreads stay manageable for ordinary orders.
  • Live since 2018, giving it a multi-year track record through India's boom and its drawdowns rather than a fresh-off-the-line prospectus.
  • INDH The hedge is the whole point: exposure to India's equity market while offsetting moves between the dollar and the rupee, per the fund's own objective.wisdomtree.com
  • 0.64% a year sits below the median fee in the India ETF group, and under peers like INDY (0.65%) and SMIN (0.74%).
  • Roughly 80 stocks held against a published WisdomTree index, so the lineup is rules-based rather than a manager's running judgment.

Worth knowing

  • FLIN One country, one currency. Indian politics, rates and a moving rupee land directly in the price, with no other market to cushion the swing.
  • The RIC Capped index trims oversized positions to meet US fund diversification rules, so returns can drift from an uncapped India benchmark.
  • Distributions come annually or semiannually, and Indian large caps are not a high-payout market. This is a growth-exposure tool, not an income stream.
  • INDH Hedging cuts both ways. It strips out rupee losses and rupee gains alike, and running the hedge carries its own cost.wisdomtree.com
  • Small in assets and thinly traded, which typically means wider bid-ask spreads than the household names in the India category.
  • Launched in 2024, so the track record is short next to India funds that have been through multiple market cycles.

FLIN vs INDH Holdings

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
