GUSABGoldman Sachs MarketBeta US 1000 Equity ETF

TEXNDiShares Texas Equity ETF

In short

GUSA Goldman's core beta, priced like plumbing: about 1,000 US stocks for 0.10% a year. It reaches past the famous 500 into mid caps and hugs its Solactive benchmark tightly. The trade-off is thin trading.

TEXN Texas, packaged. TEXN tracks a Russell index of companies headquartered in the state (about 210 of them) for 0.20% a year. It is a geography bet from an iShares index desk, not a sector or style one.

Stated mandate

GUSA The Fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the performance of the Solactive GBS United States 1000 Index. It generally invests at least 80% of assets in securities included in that index or related depositary receipts.

TEXN The fund seeks to track an index of U.S. companies headquartered in Texas, providing a single-state equity exposure.

Why people hold it

  • GUSA 0.10% a year, half the typical fee in its peer group. Cheap beta is Goldman's whole pitch with the MarketBeta line, and the price tag backs it up.gsam.com
  • About 1,000 names, roughly twice the reach of a 500-stock benchmark, so mid caps ride along in one ticket instead of being a second purchase.
  • Boring by design and good at it: the fund tracks the Solactive GBS United States 1000 Index closely, with at least 80% of assets in index securities per the prospectus.gsam.com
  • A billion-dollar-plus fund from a major issuer, paying distributions quarterly. One of the stronger builds among broad US equity peers.
  • TEXN One ticket to the Texas corporate base: roughly 210 companies headquartered in the state, picked by a rules-based Russell index rather than a manager's hunch.ishares.com
  • Costs 0.20% a year, level with the median fee in its US equity cohort. Cheap-ish for a niche cut of the market.
  • Plain machinery: a 1940 Act fund holding actual stocks, paying quarterly. No leverage, no derivatives overlay, no K-1 at tax time.

Worth knowing

  • GUSA Thinly traded for its size. Spreads can widen, so your fill price, not the index, does the damage on sloppy market orders.
  • Not the cheapest seat in the room: peer ILCB charges 0.03%. GUSA's edge is breadth, not the lowest fee.
  • Launched in 2022, with a Solactive benchmark rather than a household index name, so the track record and the apples-to-apples comparisons take extra work.
  • TEXN Headquarters is the entire filter, so the portfolio rides one state's corporate roster and can look nothing like the broad US market in any given stretch.
  • Launched in 2025, so risk numbers rest on a short history rather than a full market cycle.
  • Broad US equity peers run cheaper (ILCB at 0.03%) and trade heavier, so expect wider spreads here than on a plain index giant.

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
