Our read on each fund

XLIIA
In short
SRHR Most covered-call ETFs sell options on the S&P 500. SRHR does it on landlords: a portfolio of US REITs with calls written selectively on individual holdings, paid out monthly.
XLII Covered calls swarm tech; far rarer on machinery, railroads and defense primes. XLII owns the 1998-vintage industrials SPDR and sells short-dated calls on that fund itself, paying out monthly.
Stated mandate
SRHR The Fund seeks total return by investing primarily in publicly traded domestic REITs and selectively writing covered call options on portfolio REITs to generate additional income and potentially enhance returns.
XLII The fund is actively managed to pursue current income while retaining the potential for long-term capital growth. It invests in XLI and sells call options on XLI to generate additional income.

How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
