Our read on BCUS
CBancreek runs U.S. large caps the old-fashioned way: managers picking the names, with the S&P 500 as the scorecard. It arrived at the end of 2023 and is still small and lightly traded, but it lands in the upper half of a crowded active field.
The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation. It is actively managed and invests primarily in equity securities, with at least 80% of net assets normally invested in U.S.-listed large-capitalization companies.
Why people hold it
- A real active mandate, not index tracking: normally at least 80% of net assets in U.S.-listed large-cap companies, chosen by the manager, aiming at long-term capital appreciation.
- The remit is narrow and legible: U.S., equities, large caps, one job. Easy to place on a portfolio map and easy to measure, since the fund names the S&P 500 as its reference.
- Lands in the upper half of a crowded field of active U.S. equity funds, with high confidence in the underlying data.
Worth knowing
- Fees run 0.70% a year, above the median for active U.S. equity funds and several times what cheap rivals like DFAU (0.12%) or AVLC (0.15%) charge.
- Thinly traded. Spreads can widen and sizable orders can push the price, so execution mechanics matter more here than with the giants of the category.
- It opened in December 2023, so the track record is short and covers only a narrow slice of market conditions.
