Our read on BIBL
CBIBL filters the US market through Inspire's own Impact Score, a values screen rather than the usual ESG ratings. Standard index-fund plumbing, a very different guest list.
The Fund seeks to track the performance of the Inspire 100 Index before fees and expenses. It generally invests at least 80% of assets in the Index's component securities.
Why people hold it
- The screen is the product: holdings come from the Inspire 100 Index, built on Inspire's Impact Score rather than mainstream ESG ratings.
- Rules-based, not stock-picking. The fund keeps at least 80% of assets in its index's components, all US equities.
- Live since 2017, so the strategy has a multi-year public record, and it pays out quarterly.
Worth knowing
- Cost is the trade-off: 0.41% a year against a 0.25% median for values-screened US equity funds, with index peers like ESGV (0.09%) and XVV (0.08%) far cheaper.
- A faith-based screen is not mainstream ESG. The holdings list, and how it behaves, can sit a long way from a plain US large-cap index fund.
- Among the values-screened US equity funds we cover, this one lands in the lower tier overall, with fees the main weight.
