Our read on DFVE
BMost equal-weight funds start with a market-cap index. This one starts with the Fortune 500, a ranking by revenue, then splits money evenly across the members that are public, US-incorporated and liquid enough to trade.
The fund seeks to track the investment results of the Barclays Fortune 500 Equal Weighted Total Return Index, using equal investments across eligible public companies in the annual Fortune 500 list.
Why people hold it
- Revenue picks the roster, not market cap. The Fortune 500 list minus private firms, non-NYSE/Nasdaq listings, MLPs, foreign-incorporated names and illiquid ones.doubleline.com
- Every holding gets the same slice at the annual reconstitution and each quarterly rebalance, so the trillion-dollar giants carry no more weight than the smallest member.doubleline.com
- It has stuck tightly to its Barclays index rather than drifting, and the portfolio spreads risk across hundreds of large US companies with no concentrated bets.
- A plain 1940 Act stock fund with quarterly distributions. No swaps-only wrapper, no K-1, no leverage dressing up the exposure.
Worth knowing
- 0.20% is the middle of the equal-weight pack. GSEW and EUSA run 0.09% for broad equal-weight US large caps, though neither uses the Fortune 500 roster.
- Small and lightly traded next to the household-name equal-weight funds, which tends to mean wider spreads on the way in and out.
- Launched in 2024, so the track record is short and the fund is still building scale.prnewswire.com
