Our read on DWLD
BLive since 2017, DWLD is a stock picker's fund in ETF clothing: roughly 40 companies spanning the US, developed and emerging markets, hand-chosen in pursuit of long-term growth of capital, with no index in the driver's seat.
The Fund seeks long-term growth of capital.
Why people hold it
- Roughly 40 names, not 4,000. Every holding has to earn its slot, so the portfolio looks genuinely different from a global index fund rather than shadowing one.
- One ticket covers the US, developed and emerging markets. The managers set the country mix themselves instead of inheriting whatever weights a benchmark hands them.
- The 0.63% fee sits right at the median for active global value funds, and undercuts stock-picking peers such as COPY and FPAG.
Worth knowing
- Systematic rivals like AVGV and SFGV run the global value idea for a slimmer fee. The gap is what human stock selection costs here.
- It trades lightly next to big index ETFs, so spreads can widen in fast markets. Limit orders are the standard fix.
- A concentrated active book cuts both ways: results can wander far from world-index returns, and the ride has been bumpier than most of its global value peer group.

DWLD Risk
- 12.9%
How it’s calculated: standard deviation
The sample standard deviation of monthly total returns, multiplied by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Total returns include reinvested distributions.
- 1.12
How it’s calculated: Sharpe ratio
Subtract each month’s Treasury-bill return from the fund’s monthly total return.
Divide the average of those excess returns by their sample standard deviation, then multiply by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Each month uses the Treasury yield quoted at the end of the previous month.
- −31.9%
How it’s calculated: maximum drawdown
The largest percentage decline from an earlier peak, using total returns with reinvested distributions.
Uses up to five years through the last close, with at least 12 months required.
- 0.89
How it’s calculated: beta
The beta figure is supplied by FMP. The comparison index depends on the fund’s broad asset class.
