Our read on IDX
CIndonesia in one ticket, running since 2009. Its index counts revenue, not just paperwork: a company incorporated outside Indonesia still qualifies if at least half its business sits there.
The fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the MVIS Indonesia Index.
Why people hold it
- The index reaches past legal domicile. Firms incorporated elsewhere count if at least 50% of revenues or related assets are Indonesian, so offshore-registered pure plays aren't missed.vaneck.com
- Costs 0.57% a year, a shade under the typical single-country emerging-market ETF.
- Roughly 70 stocks spread across sectors. The portfolio build is one of the stronger ones among single-country emerging-market funds.
- Live since January 2009, a long run for a fund tied to a single frontier-adjacent market.
Worth knowing
- One country, one currency. Results ride Indonesian equities and the rupiah together, and a strong dollar can offset local gains.
- A small, only moderately traded fund, so bid-ask spreads tend to run wider than on broad emerging-market ETFs.
- Distributions land once or twice a year, not monthly.
