Our read on IVVM

ETF.net Research

DBlackRock's answer to buffer-fund timing roulette: staggered quarterly sleeves, each cushioning roughly the first 5% of a drop, so the outcome never hinges on one start date. Capped upside is the price of admission.

Stated mandate

The fund seeks exposure to large-cap U.S. equities while using staggered-maturity buffers to protect approximately the first 5% of losses. It accepts limited upside and uses the laddered structure to reduce timing risk.

Why people hold it

  1. 01One ticket, several overlapping start dates. The quarterly ladder spreads reset risk, so no single quarter's cap or buffer level defines the whole ride.ishares.com
  2. 020.53% a year, below the typical fee in its buffer cohort and under defined-outcome peers like PMAY at 0.79%.
  3. 03Plain large-cap U.S. stock exposure underneath, referenced to the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF, in a standard 1940 Act fund launched in 2023. No exotic collateral.
  4. 04Stacks up as one of the stronger builds in the S&P 500 buffer crowd, helped by fees and structural staying power.

Worth knowing

  1. 01Buffers cut both ways. Upside is limited by design, so a roaring market leaves gains on the table.
  2. 02About 5% of cushion is a modest one. Losses beyond that line pass through to you.
  3. 03Smaller and less actively traded than the biggest buffer funds, which can mean wider spreads at the moment you trade.
