Our read on JPMB

ETF.net Research

BEmerging-market debt without the currency guessing game: dollar-denominated bonds from sovereigns, state-owned borrowers and corporates, roughly 200 of them, at 0.39% a year. Income lands monthly.

Stated mandate

The fund seeks to track an index of U.S.-dollar-denominated bonds issued by emerging-market sovereign, quasi-sovereign, and corporate entities.

Why people hold it

  1. 010.39% a year undercuts the 0.50% median fee among its emerging-market debt peers, and none of them charges less.
  2. 02The index does the driving, and the fund has stayed very close to it: one of the tighter tracking records in its peer group.
  3. 03Roughly 200 bonds across sovereign, quasi-sovereign and corporate issuers, so the credit exposure is spread out rather than parked on a few governments.
  4. 04Pays monthly, and it has been running since 2018 under the J.P. Morgan roof.

Worth knowing

  1. 01Thinly traded and modest in assets, so bid-ask spreads can run wider than at the category's largest funds.
  2. 02Dollar-denominated bonds sidestep local-currency swings, not risk. Prices still move with US interest rates and emerging-market credit sentiment.
  3. 03The fee edge is shared: EMBD matches the same 0.39%, so cost alone will not settle the choice.
