Our read on OND
DThe tap-a-button economy in one ticker: streaming, e-gaming, food delivery, ridesharing, fitness and VR, chosen globally by a FactSet index instead of a stock picker. A small, concentrated ProShares theme fund that launched in 2021.
OND seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the FactSet On-Demand Index by investing in a global portfolio of companies connected to on-demand goods and services, including digital media, e-gaming, fitness, food delivery, ridesharing and virtual reality.
Why people hold it
- One trade covers the on-demand stack: digital media, e-gaming, fitness, food delivery, ridesharing and virtual reality, and it fishes globally rather than sticking to US names.proshares.com
- Rules over hunches. The portfolio tracks the FactSet On-Demand Index, so what goes in and out follows published index rules, not a manager's mood.proshares.com
- 0.58% a year is below the median fee in its consumer-theme peer group, and undercuts thematic rivals like LOGO (0.69%) and EMC (0.65%).
Worth knowing
- Roughly 30 stocks. That is a real theme bet, not a diversifier: one blowup or one breakout name moves the whole fund.
- A small asset base and light trading volume, which tends to mean wider bid-ask spreads than you would pay on a mainstream index fund.
- Built for price return, not payouts. Growth-stage on-demand companies rarely throw off dividends, and the fund has no regular distribution schedule.
