Our read on PSI
BChips, but not the whole roll call: since 2005 PSI has tracked Invesco's Dynamic Semiconductor Intellidex, a rules-built index of roughly 30 US semiconductor stocks instead of a broad market-cap sweep.
The fund seeks capital appreciation and normally invests at least 90% of total assets in common stocks comprising the Dynamic Semiconductor Intellidex Index.
Why people hold it
- Roughly 30 holdings, so individual chip names actually move the fund. Concentration is the point here, not an accident.
- Live since 2005, which means it has traded through several full chip cycles, not just the current AI wave.
- A multi-billion-dollar fund that changes hands regularly, so entering and exiting is generally straightforward. It also pays out quarterly.
- Holds up in the upper half of a crowded 16-fund semiconductor group, largely on portfolio build and staying power.
Worth knowing
- At 0.56% a year it runs above the 0.35% cohort median and well above cheap trackers like CHPS (0.15%) and SOXQ (0.19%). The rules-based selection is what carries that premium.
- Semis are one of the most cyclical corners of tech, and a 30-stock lineup concentrates those swings rather than smoothing them.
- Its benchmark is Invesco's own Intellidex index, not the PHLX Semiconductor index behind SOXQ, so its path can look different from the chip gauge in the headlines.

PSI Risk
- 41.8%
How it’s calculated: standard deviation
The sample standard deviation of monthly total returns, multiplied by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Total returns include reinvested distributions.
- 0.93
How it’s calculated: Sharpe ratio
Subtract each month’s Treasury-bill return from the fund’s monthly total return.
Divide the average of those excess returns by their sample standard deviation, then multiply by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Each month uses the Treasury yield quoted at the end of the previous month.
- −44.9%
How it’s calculated: maximum drawdown
The largest percentage decline from an earlier peak, using total returns with reinvested distributions.
Uses up to five years through the last close, with at least 12 months required.
- 2.26
How it’s calculated: beta
The beta figure is supplied by FMP. The comparison index depends on the fund’s broad asset class.
