Our read on PTH
CHealthcare, ranked by price strength. PTH holds the health care names Dorsey Wright's relative-strength screen rates strongest, then reshuffles the list every quarter. Momentum logic applied to one sector instead of the whole market, running since 2006.
The Fund seeks to track the performance of its underlying index before fees and expenses. The index selects healthcare companies exhibiting relative strength or momentum.
Why people hold it
- The screen does the work: the index pulls at least 30 health care names out of the NASDAQ US Benchmark Index based on relative strength, and re-ranks them quarterly. No manager hunches.invesco.com
- Trading since 2006, so this is a long-running strategy that has been through multiple healthcare cycles rather than a recently launched idea.
- Concentrated by design: about 60 names means the leaders the screen picks actually move the fund, unlike broad sector funds where hundreds of tickers water each other down.
- No drift at the fund level. It normally keeps at least 90% of total assets in index constituents, so what the momentum screen selects is what you own.invesco.com
Worth knowing
- Cost is the headline trade-off: 0.72% a year, more than double the 0.32% median for its factor peer group and far above broad index peers like VYM and IUSG at 0.04%.
- A thinly traded fund, so bid-ask spreads can run wider than in the big sector ETFs and order size matters more than it would in a household-name product.
- Momentum drops what fades and adds what leads, every quarter. That turnover is the strategy working as written, but the roster can look very different one year to the next.invesco.com
