Our read on UNIY

ETF.net Research

AMost core bond funds copy the Agg and stop. UNIY follows a yield-enhanced version of the broader Bloomberg US Universal index, reshuffling the mix toward higher-yielding corners of the US dollar bond market, at a fraction of the typical category fee.

Stated mandate

The fund seeks to track the price and yield performance of the Bloomberg US Universal Enhanced Yield Index before fees and expenses.

Why people hold it

  1. 010.15% a year, well under half the typical fee among core bond ETFs, for a rules-based yield tilt rather than a plain Agg clone.wisdomtree.com
  2. 02Roughly 7,000 bonds across the US dollar market, so no single issuer or sector steers the portfolio.wisdomtree.com
  3. 03Pays monthly, and it has stayed inside its stated mandate since the 2023 launch: US dollar bonds tracking its Bloomberg benchmark, no style drift.
  4. 04A multi-billion-dollar fund that ranks in the upper tier of its core-bond peer group on our review.

Worth knowing

  1. 01The tilt costs you: index-hugging cousins BND, SPAB and SCHZ charge 0.03%.
  2. 02Enhancing yield means leaning further into credit than a plain Agg tracker, so it can behave differently when spreads widen.
  3. 03It trades thinly next to the category giants, so spreads can run wider and larger orders need more care.
