Harbor files a U.S. Hyperscalers ETF naming Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and Oracle
A post-effective amendment would add the fund to Harbor's existing registration, with no ticker or fee, and the shares cannot be sold until it is effective.

Key takeaways
Harbor ETF Trust filed a post-effective amendment on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, that would add a U.S. Hyperscalers ETF to the trust's existing registration. The prospectus in the filing is preliminary, and it names five companies: Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and Oracle. The fund had not started operating, and the shares cannot be sold until the amendment is effective.
Harbor Capital Advisors Inc. would manage the fund and pick the companies. A company qualifies if it is a large U.S. company that, in Harbor Capital's judgment, invests in and operates cloud or artificial intelligence infrastructure at a large enough scale. The infrastructure is the data centers and the computing used to serve cloud customers, train and run AI models, or support the company's own business. Those five are the names in the prospectus, and Harbor Capital can change the list, with the fund adjusting as soon as reasonably practicable and no later than the next scheduled rebalance.
The fund would be actively managed, not tied to an index. Under normal circumstances it would invest at least 80% of its net assets, plus any borrowings for investment, in line with that strategy, primarily through the companies' common stock and through swap agreements. A swap agreement is a contract on a stock, not the stock itself. The prospectus says performance will depend significantly on those companies.
The trust proposes to list the fund on NYSE Arca, and the ticker is blank.
The fee is blank, and effectiveness is set for Jan. 5, 2027
Management fees, other expenses and total annual operating expenses are placeholders in the fee table. Distribution and service fees are listed as none. The investment advisory agreement is marked to be filed by amendment, so the contract is not in this document.
The filing sets the amendment to become effective 75 days after the Oct. 22, 2026 filing. That date is Jan. 5, 2027. The prospectus says the information is incomplete and may be changed. Any offering would come as soon as practicable after the registration statement is effective.
Defiance already sells a hyperscaler fund
Defiance ETFs launched the Defiance AI Hyperscale Leaders ETF, AIHY, on July 21, 2026, and called it the first ETF designed to provide exposure to the leading AI hyperscalers. That fund is actively managed. Defiance screens for approximately 10 to 50 companies that meet its tests, while Harbor Capital would name the companies itself.
"As capital pours into the AI buildout, not every company riding the theme is converting that spending into efficient, profitable growth," Defiance said in the launch announcement.
Defiance's fund page showed $16.5 million in net assets as of Oct. 20, 2026.
S&P projects the spending above $1.3 trillion by 2027
On Aug. 27, 2026, S&P Global Ratings said combined hyperscaler capital expenditure is projected to exceed $1.3 trillion by 2027.
Three of the five names are already in a Harbor fund
Harbor ETF Trust's Anthropic AI Lab Ecosystem ETF, ANTW, listed on Aug. 12, 2026. Harbor Capital built the fund around companies it links to Anthropic. Barron's reported on Sept. 23, 2026, that ANTW counted Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft among its large holdings, three of the five names in the new prospectus, along with chipmakers such as Broadcom, Advanced Micro Devices and Micron.
Alphabet, Amazon and Microsoft are already large in ANTW
