BSOLABitwise Solana Staking ETF

VSOLBVanEck Solana ETF

In short

BSOL Most spot Solana funds just hold the coin. BSOL holds it and puts part of it to work: staking additional SOL is a stated secondary objective, wrapped in a 0.20% ETF instead of a wallet and a validator you pick yourself.

VSOL VanEck was first in line at the SEC with a US Solana filing in June 2024, then arrived after the crowd. VSOL is a grantor trust that holds SOL outright and stakes part of it for network rewards.

Stated mandate

BSOL The Trust seeks exposure to the value of Solana it holds, net of operating expenses, and has a secondary objective of obtaining additional Solana through staking.

VSOL The Trust seeks to track Solana's price and staking rewards on part of its SOL holdings, after operating expenses.

Why people hold it

  • BSOL Two jobs in one ticker: the trust seeks exposure to the Solana it holds, and as a secondary objective aims to obtain additional Solana through staking. No seed phrase, no validator shopping.
  • 0.20% a year sits right at the middle of the spot Solana pack: under VanEck's VSOL at 0.30% and a hair below 21Shares' TSOL at 0.21%.
  • Trades actively, and tradability is one of its strongest traits versus the rest of the Solana cohort. That matters in a category where getting out cleanly is half the game.
  • VSOL Holds real SOL and stakes a slice of it, passing the network's staking rewards through after expenses. No wallet, no seed phrase, no validator to babysit.vaneck.com
  • Two separate crypto custodians, Gemini Trust and Coinbase Custody, hold the trust's SOL, and authorized participants can create or redeem baskets in cash or in kind.vaneck.com
  • Only part of the SOL is staked, leaving unstaked coins on hand for redemptions instead of locking the whole pot behind unstaking queues.vaneck.com
  • VanEck put the first US Solana trust registration on the SEC's desk in June 2024, and already ran spot bitcoin and ether funds before this one listed.cointelegraph.comvaneck.com

Worth knowing

  • BSOL One coin, full volatility. Value moves with Solana's price, which swings far harder than a diversified stock fund, and the fund's risk profile scores low in our framework.
  • Staking is a secondary objective, not a promised yield. Any extra SOL earned stays inside the trust rather than hitting your account: the fund has not paid distributions.
  • Young fund, crowded lane. It launched in October 2025, so history is thin, and rivals including Franklin's SOEZ and Grayscale's GSOL are competing hard on fee.
  • VSOL The standing sponsor fee is 0.30%, above the median for spot Solana funds; SOEZ, GSOL and BSOL all listed cheaper.
  • One of the smaller, thinner-traded names in a crowded Solana lineup, which can mean wider spreads at the screen than the group's biggest funds.
  • Staking stacks risks on top of SOL's swings: validator downtime or slashing penalties, staking-provider counterparty risk, and unsettled tax treatment of rewards.vaneck.comvaneck.com 2

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
