DFVEBDoubleLine Fortune 500 Equal Weight ETF

EUSAAiShares MSCI USA Equal Weighted ETF

In short

DFVE Most equal-weight funds start with a market-cap index. This one starts with the Fortune 500, a ranking by revenue, then splits money evenly across the members that are public, US-incorporated and liquid enough to trade.

EUSA Equal weight, iShares style: each of roughly 500 large and mid cap US stocks gets the same slice, so the megacaps stop running the show. Around since 2010 and priced at 0.09%, less than half what the typical equal-weight fund charges.

Stated mandate

DFVE The fund seeks to track the investment results of the Barclays Fortune 500 Equal Weighted Total Return Index, using equal investments across eligible public companies in the annual Fortune 500 list.

EUSA The fund seeks to track an index composed of equally weighted U.S. stocks.

Why people hold it

  • DFVE Revenue picks the roster, not market cap. The Fortune 500 list minus private firms, non-NYSE/Nasdaq listings, MLPs, foreign-incorporated names and illiquid ones.doubleline.com
  • Every holding gets the same slice at the annual reconstitution and each quarterly rebalance, so the trillion-dollar giants carry no more weight than the smallest member.doubleline.com
  • It has stuck tightly to its Barclays index rather than drifting, and the portfolio spreads risk across hundreds of large US companies with no concentrated bets.
  • A plain 1940 Act stock fund with quarterly distributions. No swaps-only wrapper, no K-1, no leverage dressing up the exposure.
  • EUSA 0.09% a year against a 0.20% median for equal-weight US funds, and nothing in the peer group undercuts it (GSEW matches).
  • Every holding gets the same slice, about 500 of them, so no handful of giants sets the tone the way it does in a cap-weighted US index.ishares.com
  • Live since 2010, a multi-billion-dollar fund, and it has hugged the MSCI USA Equal Weighted Index closely, one of the tightest jobs in its peer group.

Worth knowing

  • DFVE 0.20% is the middle of the equal-weight pack. GSEW and EUSA run 0.09% for broad equal-weight US large caps, though neither uses the Fortune 500 roster.
  • Small and lightly traded next to the household-name equal-weight funds, which tends to mean wider spreads on the way in and out.
  • Launched in 2024, so the track record is short and the fund is still building scale.prnewswire.com
  • EUSA Equal weighting tilts the portfolio toward mid caps, so its path can diverge widely from a standard cap-weighted US index in either direction.
  • Moderately traded rather than a category volume leader, so spreads and execution deserve attention on larger orders.
  • Income arrives quarterly, not monthly.
