EIPICFT Energy Income Partners Enhanced Income ETF

PSRAInvesco Active U.S. Real Estate ETF

In short

EIPI Four First Trust closed-end energy funds were merged into one ETF in 2024, and this is the survivor: an Energy Income Partners portfolio of pipelines, utilities and energy majors that sells calls against part of the book and pays monthly.

PSR Active REIT stock-picking without the active price tag: since 2008, PSR has run a tight book of about 30 US property names for 0.35% a year, roughly half the median fee among active US equity ETFs.

Stated mandate

EIPI The Fund seeks high total return with an emphasis on current shareholder distributions.

PSR The Fund seeks high total return through capital appreciation and current income, investing principally in equity real estate investment trusts.

Why people hold it

  • EIPI Run by energy specialist Energy Income Partners as sub-adviser: about 110 names across midstream, utilities and majors, chosen by hand rather than lifted from a sector index.businesswire.com
  • Writes call options against part of the portfolio to turn energy volatility into premium, and sends cash out on a monthly cadence.stockanalysis.com
  • ETF plumbing: shares create and redeem at net asset value, sidestepping the discount-to-NAV problem that dogged the four closed-end funds it absorbed.nasdaq.com
  • PSR 0.35% a year against a 0.65% median for active US equity ETFs. Active management without the usual active-management markup.
  • Running since 2008, across multiple rate regimes and property cycles, and it sits in the upper half of its active US equity peer group.
  • Concentrated by design: about 30 equity REITs, so each holding carries real weight instead of being diluted across the entire property market.invesco.com
  • The mandate targets capital appreciation plus current income from equity REITs, and the fund distributes quarterly.invesco.com

Worth knowing

  • EIPI Fees run 1.11% a year against roughly 0.65% for the median active US equity ETF; cohort leaders like DFAU (0.12%) and FELC (0.18%) charge a sliver of that.
  • One sector, one cycle. Commodity prices, pipeline volumes and utility rate decisions move the entire portfolio together.stockanalysis.com
  • Calls sold against holdings cap the upside on that slice, so a sharp energy rally partly passes the fund by. Income comes at the cost of some appreciation.stockanalysis.com
  • PSR Thinly traded. Spreads can widen and larger orders can move the price more than they would in a heavily traded index fund.
  • One sector, one economy: US property. When rates jolt REITs, the portfolio has no other sector to lean on.
  • Assets stay modest next to the giant index REIT funds, and smaller ETFs generally face a higher bar to stay open over the long haul.

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
