GSIDCGoldman Sachs MarketBeta International Equity ETF

IDEVAiShares Core MSCI International Developed Markets ETF

In short

GSID Goldman's plain-vanilla international core: roughly 900 developed-market stocks outside North America, held directly, at 0.20% net of a waiver through December 29, 2026. A big Wall Street name doing a quiet index-fund job.

IDEV One ticker for the developed world outside America, top to bottom: roughly 2,300 large, mid and small caps for four basis points. iShares built this as a Core building block and priced it like one.

Stated mandate

GSID The Fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the Solactive GBS Developed Markets ex North America Large & Mid Cap Index.

IDEV The fund seeks to track an index of large-, mid-, and small-cap equities from developed markets outside the United States.

Why people hold it

  • GSID The tracking job is the strength here: it has hugged its Solactive developed ex-North America index closely, which is the entire assignment for a market-beta wrapper.
  • Roughly 900 large and mid caps across Europe, Japan and the rest of the developed world, covering about 85% of that market by Goldman's own count.gs.com
  • Goldman designed the MarketBeta line as a core building block to be combined with other funds, and this one pays out quarterly.gs.com
  • IDEV Charges 0.04% a year while the typical developed-markets core fund charges 0.18%. That is roughly a fifth of the usual freight.
  • Goes all-cap, not just blue chips: roughly 2,300 large, mid and small companies from developed markets outside the US, so the small end is not left on the cutting room floor.ishares.com
  • A plain index wrapper on the MSCI World ex USA IMI Index. No tilts, no manager discretion, and it has run that same mandate since 2017.
  • Multi-billion-dollar fund that trades actively, and one of the stronger implementations in a crowded developed-markets core group.

Worth knowing

  • GSID 0.20% net of a waiver through December 29, 2026 (0.25% gross) sits above the category median, in a group where IDEV charges 0.04% and VEA and SCHF 0.03%.
  • Moderately traded rather than one of the category's most liquid names, so bid-ask spreads can run wider than at the index-fund giants.
  • No US or Canadian stocks and no emerging markets: one slice of global equity, not a whole-world fund.
  • IDEV VEA, SPDW and SCHF each run a basis point cheaper. Pennies on most balances, but IDEV is not the absolute cost floor of the group.
  • Distributions come annually or semiannually rather than monthly, so cash arrives in lumps.
  • Every holding is priced in a foreign currency, so moves in the dollar show up in your returns alongside the stocks themselves.

GSID vs IDEV Holdings

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
