Our read on each fund
IJULB
JANIC
In short
IJUL Most buffer ETFs babysit the S&P 500. IJUL points the same 15% downside cushion at developed markets outside the US, tracking an EAFE index fund up to a cap over a one-year outcome period that restarts each July.
JANI Most buffer ETFs cap your upside. JANI swaps the cap for a spread: it buffers the first 15% of losses on developed-market stocks, then participates in whatever the reference ETF returns above a set hurdle, with no ceiling on top.
Stated mandate
IJUL The fund seeks to track the return of the iShares MSCI EAFE ETF (EFA) up to a predetermined cap while protecting against the first 15% of losses during the outcome period.
JANI At the end of the current Outcome Period, the Fund seeks returns above the Spread when the iShares MSCI EAFE ETF has positive returns exceeding the Spread, while buffering its first 15% of losses.

How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
