Our read on each fund
NSCIA
OGSPD
In short
NSCI Securitized credit is the bond market's plumbing: mortgage, consumer-loan and CLO paper that broad index funds only skim. NSCI is Nuveen's active run at it, holding at least 80% in structured bonds with room to reach below investment grade.
OGSP A boutique active take on investment-grade structured credit: asset-backed bonds, CLOs and mortgage deals bought one at a time, with no index to hug. The prospectus calls it a go-anywhere fund within structured products, and it pays monthly.
Stated mandate
NSCI The Fund seeks a high level of current income and total return. It is actively managed and normally invests at least 80% of net assets plus investment borrowings in securitized credit investments.
OGSP The Fund is actively managed and seeks income; the prospectus's investment-objective table also states capital appreciation.
