RSPTBInvesco S&P 500 Equal Weight Technology ETF

XNTKBState Street SPDR NYSE Technology ETF

In short

RSPT Tech without the megacap gravity. RSPT hands each of the S&P 500's roughly 80 technology names the same slice and resets every quarter, so the sector's giants carry no more weight than its smaller names.

XNTK A tech fund born in 2000 that ignores the cap-weighted script: about 35 names, equal-weighted at each annual rebalance, with tech-flavored consumer discretionary stocks allowed in alongside classic IT.

Stated mandate

RSPT The Fund is designed to follow the S&P 500 Equal Weight Information Technology Index, investing at least 90% of assets in index securities. The index equally weights information technology stocks from the S&P 500 and rebalances quarterly.

XNTK The fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the total return of the NYSE Technology Index, which consists of 35 leading US-listed technology-related companies.

Why people hold it

  • RSPT Equal weight by design: about 80 S&P 500 tech stocks, one identical slice each, rebalanced quarterly. No single giant steers the fund.invesco.com
  • Running since 2006 and it hews closely to its index. A multi-billion-dollar fund that trades actively, so getting in and out is rarely the hard part.
  • One of the stronger implementations in a crowded broad-tech aisle, with a plain index mandate and quarterly distributions.
  • XNTK Equal-weighted at the annual rebalance, so the mega-caps start with the same slice as everyone else in the roughly 35-stock basket.ssga.com
  • Its index reaches past the strict tech box into tech-related consumer discretionary names, catching internet and e-commerce businesses that pure IT funds screen out.ssga.com
  • 0.35% expense ratio, under the median fee in its broad-tech peer group, and it has been trading since 2000 as a multi-billion-dollar SPDR with quarterly distributions.

Worth knowing

  • RSPT 0.40% a year lands mid-pack for tech sector funds but well above cap-weighted majors like VGT (0.09%), XLK (0.08%) and FTEC (0.08%).
  • Equal weighting leans on the sector's smaller members and the quarterly reset trims what ran up. Expect it to move to a different beat than cap-weighted tech.
  • Still a single-sector fund: everything inside is S&P 500 information technology, with the concentration that implies.
  • XNTK About 40 holdings. One stumbling name lands harder here than in a 300-stock tech index.
  • Weights reset once a year, so winners drift to outsized slices between rebalances. Equal weight is a starting point, not a constant.ssga.com
  • The big cap-weighted rivals (VGT, XLK, FTEC) charge less and trade more heavily, which can mean tighter spreads for large orders.

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
