Our read on AIBU
CMost daily leveraged ETFs amplify the whole market. AIBU aims for 200% of the daily move of a roughly 40-stock US AI and big data index: one theme, two times, reset every trading day.
The Fund seeks 200% of the Solactive US AI & Big Data Index’s daily performance before fees and expenses, resetting its target each trading day. It is not designed to deliver 200% of the index over periods other than one trading day.
Why people hold it
- Targets 200% of the Solactive US AI & Big Data Index's daily move before fees. A single-theme amplification tool, not a broad-market fund with some AI sprinkled in.
- 2x, not 3x. A step down in daily amplification from the 3x funds that dominate the leveraged shelf, including Direxion's own FAS, on the same daily-reset plumbing.
- 1.05% expense ratio: the going rate for daily leveraged funds, with no extra toll for the thematic wrapper.
- The index runs about 40 US AI and big data names, so the exposure stays recognizably thematic rather than sliding into a generic mega-cap basket.
Worth knowing
- The 200% target resets every trading day. Over longer holds compounding takes the wheel, and results can diverge from 2x the index, especially through choppy stretches.
- A small, lightly traded fund, which usually means wider bid-ask spreads at the point of trade than the household-name leveraged products.
- Launched in 2024, so its track record covers a short, AI-heavy stretch of markets rather than a full cycle.

AIBU Risk
This fund targets a multiple of the daily move of its index and resets daily. Hold it longer than one reset and compounding makes the return diverge from that target. In choppy markets it can lose value even when the index ends flat.
- 57.1%
How it’s calculated: standard deviation
The sample standard deviation of monthly total returns, multiplied by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Total returns include reinvested distributions.
- 0.96
How it’s calculated: Sharpe ratio
Subtract each month’s Treasury-bill return from the fund’s monthly total return.
Divide the average of those excess returns by their sample standard deviation, then multiply by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Each month uses the Treasury yield quoted at the end of the previous month.
- −51.2%
How it’s calculated: maximum drawdown
The largest percentage decline from an earlier peak, using total returns with reinvested distributions.
Uses up to five years through the last close, with at least 12 months required.
- 4.22
How it’s calculated: beta
The beta figure is supplied by FMP. The comparison index depends on the fund’s broad asset class.
