Our read on EDEN
DOne ticker, one small country. EDEN tracks a capped index of Danish stocks, so a short list of Copenhagen names carries the load. Running since 2012, it is the narrow way to own Denmark instead of all of Europe.
The fund seeks to track an index composed of Danish equities, providing targeted exposure to companies in Denmark.
Why people hold it
- Pure Denmark, undiluted: the mandate is an index of Danish equities, not a Nordic or pan-European blend, so the country you picked is the country you get.
- The 25/50 capping built into its index limits how heavy any one issuer can become, a useful guardrail in a market where a few giants tower over the rest.
- An IMI index and roughly 40 stocks means large, mid and small caps in one line item, not only the blue-chip headliners.
- Listed since 2012 under the iShares banner, so there is more than a decade of operating history behind the ticker.
Worth knowing
- The 0.53% annual fee sits above the middle of the single-country developed pack, where rivals like FLKR and FLAU run at 0.09%.
- Thinly traded and modest in size, so spreads can widen and fills get lumpier than in a mega-fund. Trade size and timing matter more here.
- One small market, roughly 40 names: single-stock and sector moves land harder than in a broad international fund. On cost, trading and risk measures it sits in the lower reaches of its peer group.

How it’s calculated: Sharpe ratio
Subtract each month’s Treasury-bill return from the fund’s monthly total return.
