Our read on FIDI

ETF.net Research

AA rules-based hunt for dividend payers outside the US: roughly 120 developed-market names, quarterly cash, and a 0.18% fee that undercuts most of the international-dividend shelf.

Stated mandate

The fund seeks investment returns that generally track, before fees and expenses, the Fidelity International High Dividend Index. It normally invests at least 80% of assets in index securities or related depositary receipts.

Why people hold it

  1. 01Costs 0.18% a year against a 0.50% median for international dividend screens, so more of the income stays in the account.
  2. 02Built to shadow the Fidelity International High Dividend Index, with at least 80% of assets in index names or their depositary receipts. Tracking has been close.institutional.fidelity.com
  3. 03Pays quarterly from about 120 developed-market payers: a screened shortlist, not a sweep of every stock that happens to yield.
  4. 04Running since 2018 and one of the stronger implementations in its international-dividend peer group.

Worth knowing

  1. 01Cheap, not cheapest. VYMI (0.07%) and SCHY (0.08%) charge less for their own take on overseas dividends.
  2. 02Moderately traded rather than a household-name giant, so spreads and limit orders deserve attention at the desk.
  3. 03Developed markets only. Emerging-market dividend payers sit outside the mandate, and the payout arrives in foreign currencies before conversion.institutional.fidelity.com
