Our read on GQGU

ETF.net Research

BNot an index fund. GQGU is GQG Partners' US stock portfolio, chosen through the firm's own growth-and-quality screen, delivered in a plain ETF wrapper at 0.49% a year.

Stated mandate

The Fund seeks current income while preserving prospects for capital appreciation. It aims to capture most of the Nasdaq 100 Index’s returns with lower volatility and additional income.

Why people hold it

  1. 01Active stock picking at close to index-fund pricing: 0.49% a year for a hand-selected US equity portfolio.
  2. 02The mandate is narrow and legible: US-listed equities only, filtered by GQG's proprietary growth and quality screen.
  3. 03Ordinary plumbing. A standard 1940 Act open-end ETF, the same wrapper behind mainstream index funds.

Worth knowing

  1. 01Conviction portfolios walk their own path. Holdings and results can look very different from the broad US market, in either direction.
  2. 02It listed in July 2025, so there is only a short record to judge the ETF on.
  3. 03Moderately traded rather than a volume heavyweight, and distributions come once or twice a year, so this is a growth vehicle more than an income one.
