Our read on TPOR
DA one-day trade in a work-boots sector: TPOR aims for 300% of the daily move in a transportation index of railroads, airlines, truckers and delivery names. The leverage resets every day, so longer holds drift from 3x.
The fund seeks daily investment results equal to 300% of the S&P Transportation Select Industry FMC Capped Index before fees and expenses. This objective applies for a single day, not as a three-times cumulative return over longer periods.
Why people hold it
- One ticket to 3x the daily swing in roughly 50 transportation stocks instead of stacking a leveraged sector trade yourself.
- The mandate is blunt about itself: 300% of one day's index move before fees, and Direxion states it is not a 3x return over longer periods.direxion.com
- The 1.12% fee sits in the normal range for daily-geared funds, so the narrow sector angle isn't priced as a novelty.
- Live since 2017, a long run for a single-sector geared fund, with a named index behind it rather than a manager's discretion.
Worth knowing
- Daily reset means path matters: over choppy multi-day stretches, results can land well away from 3x the index move in either direction.
- Small asset base and light trading, so spreads and order size matter more here than in the heavily traded geared funds.
- Broader geared funds charge less: FAS runs 0.92% and QLD 0.98%, so the transportation focus is the reason to look here.

TPOR Risk
This fund targets a multiple of the daily move of its index and resets daily. Hold it longer than one reset and compounding makes the return diverge from that target. In choppy markets it can lose value even when the index ends flat.
- 57.0%
How it’s calculated: standard deviation
The sample standard deviation of monthly total returns, multiplied by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Total returns include reinvested distributions.
- 0.37
How it’s calculated: Sharpe ratio
Subtract each month’s Treasury-bill return from the fund’s monthly total return.
Divide the average of those excess returns by their sample standard deviation, then multiply by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Each month uses the Treasury yield quoted at the end of the previous month.
- −74.1%
How it’s calculated: maximum drawdown
The largest percentage decline from an earlier peak, using total returns with reinvested distributions.
Uses up to five years through the last close, with at least 12 months required.
- 3.63
How it’s calculated: beta
The beta figure is supplied by FMP. The comparison index depends on the fund’s broad asset class.
