Our read on VERS

ETF.net Research

CLaunched in March 2022 at peak metaverse buzz, VERS holds roughly 40 global companies building the hardware, platforms and games behind virtual worlds. One index, one theme, no hedging.

Stated mandate

The fund seeks pre-expense returns that track the Solactive Metaverse Theme Index. It normally invests at least 80% of assets in index components or instruments with similar economic characteristics and generally uses replication or representative sampling.

Why people hold it

  1. 01One ticket to the whole stack: device makers, data processors, social platforms and gaming sit in the same basket of about 40 names, not a single metaverse pure play.proshares.com
  2. 02Rules-based, not vibes-based: at least 80% of assets go into components of the Solactive Metaverse Theme Index, held via replication or sampling.proshares.com
  3. 03The 0.58% fee lands around the middle of the thematic ETF pack. No exotic-theme surcharge for the niche.
  4. 04Global mandate, so the index can reach chipmakers and platform owners listed outside the US. Distributions come quarterly.proshares.com

Worth knowing

  1. 01A small fund that trades lightly, so bid-ask spreads can run wider than on mainstream tech ETFs and larger orders can move the price.
  2. 02About 40 stocks riding one narrative: swings tend to be sharper than a broad market fund's, in both directions.
  3. 03Peers cover overlapping tech ground for less, including TECB at 0.30% and LRND at 0.14%.
