Our read on XRPI
DThe first US ETF to give plain 1x XRP exposure, and it does it with CME futures rather than coins. XRP price movement in a normal brokerage account, no wallet, no keys, no crypto exchange login.
The Fund aims to provide exposure to the returns of XRP by primarily investing in XRP Futures Contracts via a Cayman Islands subsidiary, and may also utilize XRP-linked ETPs and swap agreements.
Why people hold it
- The original: launched in 2025 as the first US ETF tracking XRP futures one-to-one, before any unleveraged competitor existed.coindesk.com
- Mechanically simple: cash-settled XRP futures on the CME, held through a Cayman subsidiary, with cash-like collateral behind them. Self-custody risk stays off your plate.sec.gov
- Trades with reasonable activity for a crypto derivatives fund, and the collateral sleeve supports a monthly distribution schedule.
Worth knowing
- Pioneer pricing: the fee runs well above the median for crypto derivatives ETFs, and that gap compounds against you in a flat market.
- Futures, not coins. Rolling contracts and basis can pull results away from spot XRP, so this tracks the futures curve rather than the token itself.sec.gov
- Young fund on a violently volatile asset. On cost and risk together it sits in the lower tier of its crypto derivatives peer group.

XRPI Risk
- 54.4%
How it’s calculated: standard deviation
The sample standard deviation of monthly total returns, multiplied by the square root of 12.
Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Total returns include reinvested distributions.
