Our read on each fund
ABLGC
AVDSA
In short
ABLG A developed-markets stock picker with a cash-register mindset: it hunts companies shrinking their share count, growing free cash flow, and cutting debt, measured against the S&P Developed ex-U.S. Index at similar volatility.
AVDS Avantis casts a wide net: roughly 3,000 non-US developed small caps, weighted with an eye on price, profitability and how much cash companies plow back in. Active management that looks a lot like an index fund with its thumb on the scale.
Stated mandate
ABLG The fund seeks long-term returns exceeding the S&P Developed ex-U.S. Index while maintaining similar volatility. It uses an active stock-selection process based on float shrink, free-cash-flow growth, and declining leverage.
AVDS The ETF seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing in a broad group of non-U.S. small-cap companies and considering valuation, profitability, and investment levels when selecting and weighting securities.

How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
