Our read on each fund
AGGA
FIXDC
In short
AGG Launched in 2003, one of the first funds to pack the entire U.S. investment-grade bond market into a single ticker: Treasuries, corporates and mortgage bonds, three basis points a year, cash paid monthly.
FIXD Most of the aggregate-bond aisle is index tracking on autopilot. FIXD goes the other way: an active manager roaming roughly 900 bonds under a mandate to maximize long-term total return, with distributions paid monthly.
Stated mandate
AGG The fund seeks to track the Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Bond Index, providing broad exposure to the total U.S. investment-grade bond market.
FIXD The Fund seeks to maximize long-term total return. Under normal market conditions, it invests at least 80% of its net assets in fixed income securities.

How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
