Our read on each fund
AGGA
HCRBB
In short
AGG Launched in 2003, one of the first funds to pack the entire U.S. investment-grade bond market into a single ticker: Treasuries, corporates and mortgage bonds, three basis points a year, cash paid monthly.
HCRB Hartford's take on the boring middle of the bond market is actively run, not index-tracked: roughly 900 investment-grade bonds, monthly distributions, and a price tag closer to a passive fund than to a typical active manager.
Stated mandate
AGG The fund seeks to track the Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Bond Index, providing broad exposure to the total U.S. investment-grade bond market.
HCRB The Fund seeks long-term total return through an actively managed portfolio of fixed-income securities selected for total-return potential, with at least 80% of net assets normally invested in fixed income and a primary focus on investment-grade securities.

How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
