Our read on each fund
BITAA
DFIIC
In short
BITA BlackRock's take on the bitcoin income trade: own actual bitcoin, then sell calls on only a quarter to a third of it. Most crypto covered-call funds hand over the upside to buy the yield. This one is built to leave most of it on the table.
DFII A bitcoin income fund that never owns a coin. First Trust's Vest team sells options on bitcoin ETPs to fund a monthly payout targeted 15% above one-month Treasury rates, trading away part of bitcoin's upside for cash flow.
Stated mandate
BITA The Trust seeks to reflect the performance of bitcoin while generating premium income through an actively managed strategy of selling call options primarily on IBIT shares and, from time to time, on ETP indices.
DFII The Fund seeks partial participation in bitcoin returns while generating a high level of income. It uses options referencing Bitcoin Exposure Instruments rather than investing directly in bitcoin.
