Our read on each fund
MDYB
MDYVB
In short
MDY Launched in 1995, MDY was the original one-ticker route into the S&P MidCap 400, and it still trades like a heavyweight. The trade-off: a fee set in an era before same-index clones charged pennies.
MDYV The value half of the S&P MidCap 400: roughly 300 of the index's cheaper-looking names, sorted by rulebook rather than manager hunch. Live since 2005, and it has never pretended to be anything else.
Stated mandate
MDY The fund seeks to track, before expenses, the price and yield performance of the S&P MidCap 400 Index.
MDYV The Fund seeks to track the total return of an index representing medium-capitalization U.S. exchange-traded equities with value characteristics.
