Our read on each fund
NSCIA
PINCC
In short
NSCI Securitized credit is the bond market's plumbing: mortgage, consumer-loan and CLO paper that broad index funds only skim. NSCI is Nuveen's active run at it, holding at least 80% in structured bonds with room to reach below investment grade.
PINC Most securitized-credit ETFs sit at the short end and float with cash rates. PINC is PGIM's active take with a twist: a duration overlay of Treasury futures and swaps that stretches its rate exposure beyond what its CLOs, CMBS and ABS carry on their own.
Stated mandate
NSCI The Fund seeks a high level of current income and total return. It is actively managed and normally invests at least 80% of net assets plus investment borrowings in securitized credit investments.
PINC The Fund seeks to maximize total return through a combination of current income and capital appreciation.
